Step 1 &2 - Double cleanse
When I was younger I just used to remove my makeup at the end of the day with a makeup wipe but now I prefer to use micellar water or a gel/oil based cleanser to remove my makeup. I have also learned that it is best to double cleanse to gently clean the skin of any dirt or impurities that have been left from your makeup. I use Garnier Micellar water usually with a cotton pad to remove my excess makeup and then follow with a second cleanse using Elemis Pro Collagen cleansing balm and a muslin cloth. If I have no makeup on that day then I prefer to use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel cleanser as this just gives my skin a boost of essential moisture, and then again followed by Elemis.
Step 3 - Toner
I have used the Pixi Glow Toner for years now and it is a cult product for so many. This contains Glycolic acid which exfoliates and purifies and this has really helped to brighten my skin. This toner deeply cleans pores by eliminating excess oil and impurities. It really has made a huge difference to my skin.
Step 4 - Eye Cream
I decided to invest in the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye cream as I had read so many good reviews. This does not disappoint as the skin around the eye area is so thin and delicate, and therefore needs extra attention. Getting older also means more fine lines in this area so I especially like to use this concentrated formula to target this problem area. Also helps with signs of fatigue which is a must with a newborn.
Step 5 - Serums
I have been using L'Oreal Revitalift Laser Renew Serum. I love the scent of this and how soft and smooth it leaves my face feeling. This is formulated with Pro-xylane and Hyaluronic Acid which re-plumps the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I did quite a bit of research on serums as I knew this was an additional step I wanted in my everyday nighttime skincare routine. I looked into which ones worked well with Retinol and decided on this one as this works wonders with providing a moisturising layer for the Retinol step.
Step 6 - Retinol
This super ingredient, also known as Vitamin A, evens out the skin tone and leaves your skin softer and smoother. It stimulates collagen to accelerate skin replenishment. This was also another step I wanted to introduce to my skincare regime. I read a lot of reviews and decided to try the affordable Retinol Serum by The Inkey List. If you do not yet use Retinol I would highly recommend you do, but you must ensure you build this product up gradually and not use every night to start with. I started applying every one out of three evenings and then moved to every other night first.
Step 7 - Moisturiser
I have been applying LancĂ´me Hydra Zen Anti-stress cream every evening as this instantly boosts my skin's natural defences against the stresses of the day. It smells so fresh and is a light cream if you prefer this over a thick consistency. I love finishing with this cream ready for a good night to get my beauty sleep.
Extra Step - Lip Balm
My last step before I jump into bed is the Soap & Glory Melty Talented Wonderbalm. I use this just to moisturise my lips and this has coconut and almond oils, along with mango butter and Vitamin E so it leaves my lips so nourished along with smelling amazing. This wonderbalm also can be used on cuticles, dry elbows and knees, so a great all rounder product.
Now I am ready for bed and excited to wake up with soft, nourished and smoother looking skin!
What's your night time skincare routine? What are your favourite products?
The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought you have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention. Oxygeneo
